Welcome Readers

Our Mission at The Mariner Times

Dear reader,

Welcome to The Mariner Times, College of Marin’s newest student newspaper and a new space for connection, curiosity, and community. This newspaper was created by students, for students. Our mission is to be a publication that highlights student voices, experiences, and ideas that shape life on our campus every day. We seek to be an inclusive, safe space where you can read unbiased and ethical journalism. Whether you are just starting your first semester, returning to school, or nearing graduation, The Mariner Times is here to grow alongside you. Our campus has not had a student-run paper in quite some time, and we are pleased to be starting with you this semester. We appreciate your understanding as we get our sea legs.

As you embark on this new journey with us, we want to remind you that college is more than rushing to class and deadlines; it is a place where your story begins, where friendships form, and everlasting memories and bonds are made. Our goal is to evolve with you, empowering each other to rise to our highest potential. As your peers, we wish to bring you different perspectives and creative voices as your source of campus life and news. From student op-eds, campus happenings, and interviews, we want to help you stay informed. This paper aims to inform you of what is happening right here on your campus.

Most importantly, The Mariner Times belongs to you. This is an open invitation to read, question, contribute, and have your voice be heard. As we begin this journey, we’re excited to build something lasting and meaningful, one issue at a time. Welcome aboard, mariners.
